CRIMINAL 4.5/10

Standard

Fast food – That is what CRIMINAL is. An action/crime film made by Hollywood the same way McDonalds make its hamburgers: without love, with nothing special, following the same traditional recipe. It has a couple of “interesting” ideas, but unfortunately these weren’t really explored. I went to watch this film because Gary Oldman and Alice Eve, sadly both of their characters are the most underdeveloped ones (and Gary Oldman’s character, God! He has to be the most stupid and useless director in the story of CIA).

HARDCORE HERNY 8.0/10

Standard

HARDCORE HENRY is packed with action, violence and gore. This movie is not for everyone. Many people walked out of my screening room, but if you know what you are going to and if you enjoy violent action, you will love this movie. Sharlto Copley if definitely one of the highlights. The action is great and the first-person point of view of the camera is not exhausting (if you go mentally prepared for it).

DEMOLITION – 5.5/10

Standard

DEMOLITION, the new effort of Jean-Marc Vallée, it’s an entertaining dramedy with nothing relevant to say. It is just another rite of a passage like many others movies of the same subject. There is nothing fresh in this movie and most sadly: the unique voice of its director gets lost in a Hollywood-template predictable film. Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper performances are fine; Naomi Watts is underused; the most memorable performance comes from Judah Lewis, whose scenes with Gyllenhaal are the only thing worth watching.
